Anomalie bride Lauren fully embraced her December wedding. From the twinkling string lights overhead to the warm glow from candles, her wedding was cozy and super romantic. But the best part? Lauren created a custom gown with Anomalie to perfectly match her wedding vibe. The long, lace sleeves paired with a sweetheart neckline on a fit-and-flare silhouette is simply dreamy. Her selection of a more structured Mikado fabric for her skirt gave the added benefit of extra warmth. Read on to find out why Lauren chose Anomalie and why rain was actually the best surprise of the day.

Tell us how you and your husband met!

My husband, Carter, and I actually grew up as childhood friends. When we were kids, my mom would babysit him and his brothers while school was out for the summer. I have memories of eating popsicles and playing with sidewalk chalk together. We lost touch a bit when I left for college, but then we reconnected over coffee one day and fell in love in the months that followed! He’s my best friend and the cutest guy in every room.

What part of the vision came first—your wedding theme or your wedding dress?

As soon as I knew we were planning a December wedding, I pictured a long-sleeved wedding dress with lace! We wanted a very moody, cozy vibe with lots of string lights and candles for that little touch of magic. The vision for the dress flowed from the big picture of the day!

Why did you decide to get a custom gown and how did Anomalie come into the picture?

I heard about Anomalie before I got engaged, but pushed it to the back of my mind, because I thought I would be too anxious to take that risk. But after several trips to traditional stores that ended with disappointment, Anomalie kept coming back to my mind.

What was the most valuable tool when it came to bringing your idea to life?

The lookbook tool on the Anomalie website helped me gather ideas and shape the details of my dress! Having everything in one place made it easier to envision the end result.

To help consolidate the different elements Lauren wanted to incorporate into her wedding gown, she uploaded all of her inspiration photos to her Lookbook on her dashboard.

What did you love the most about your gown and the dress creation process?

My favorite moment was when my mom slid the zipper up my back the first time I tried on my dress at home. It was like, “This is perfect. Everything feels right.”

Now for the most important part–your wedding! How did everything turn out on your wedding day?

It rained on my wedding day, and everyone assumed we would be disappointed. But actually, it added so much to the mood of the wedding! The cloudy skies made our string lights shine even brighter and helped me feel really calm.

Your wedding pics are beyond romantic. What other elements did you include in your big day to make it more personal to you and your spouse?

My husband dabbles in woodworking and actually built the arch that we stood under during the ceremony. Now, that same arch functions as a headboard for our bed and a reminder of the beauty of our marriage covenant!

How did your husband and guests react to your wedding dress?

Carter was all tears when he saw me at the end of the aisle! He said the only element he guessed ahead of time was the lace sleeves—everything else was a surprise!
