We’re back with another beautiful Anomalie bride to feature! Intricate guipure lace and beaded cap sleeves take a starring role with this beautiful custom fit wedding gown. We chatted with Iris about her modern glam gown and the details of her stunning culturally-rich wedding day. Spoiler alert: three ceremonies, three dresses!

What was the vision and inspiration for your gown?

I wanted a gown that would be both romantic and modern, but above all, comfortable to wear for hours. It also need to give me the freedom to move. A softer, geometric lace could help me achieve all of this.

I wanted a sweetheart neckline and godet detail that would compliment my curves and loved the idea of having a beaded cap sleeve not only to provide support, but to also add another modern and glamorous element. To make it more unique, I also incorporated modern lines through piping detail at the waistline.

Somehow, the lace pattern from my Anomalie dress reminded me of the national flower of Hong Kong (my birth country), some Indian elements (where part of my husband’s family is from), and peacock feathers (we got married at Peacock Gap). How cool is that?

What did you enjoy most about partnering with Anomalie?

I loved being able to contribute, participate, and be in control of the design and customization process. But the thing I enjoyed the most was that the ENTIRE Anomalie team (especially my stylist Lauren B) was so positive and supportive every step of the way. I never felt like they were just interested in the sale and onto the next. They listened closely to what I was looking for, and provided me with insight into the wedding dress creation process (including education on fabrics, silhouettes, and terminology) so I could make educated decisions during the customization process.

Tell us about your wedding day!

We wanted to incorporate our cultural heritage and traditions, but also have a ceremony that was uniquely personal to us, so we had 3 ceremonies! And yes, that also meant 3 dresses :)

We did break it up though, so we had our western-style ceremony with personal vows (where I wore my Anomalie dress) and a Zoroastrian Parsi ceremony (where I wore a sari) on one day, and had the Chinese tea ceremony a month later, where I wore a red cheongsam.

I had dear friends play live dueling pianos for our cocktail reception, and while that was very memorable, my favorite part was seeing our beloved family and friends all together in the same room and bringing those two worlds together.

What were some of the reactions to your dress from guests, family and your husband?

I received so many compliments on the beauty and detail of the lace, the beaded sleeves and the fit. Then, everyone was blown away when they found out my dress was custom-made and didn’t cost a fortune.
