In 2018, Anomalie’s brides will be walking down the aisle in dresses of all silhouettes, colors, and nearly every embellishment you can imagine. From festive glittery fabrics to understated structured dresses, here are the top 10 most popular trends that have inspired our brides and stylists for the wedding dresses to be debuted this year.

1. Overskirts

A long, sweeping train looks dramatic and breathtaking trailing behind you down the aisle, but when the reception starts and you’re ready to move around comfortably, you may find it gets in your way. Some brides instead pair their dress with an overskirt that stuns during the ceremony and can be removed for the reception, transitioning the gown from display mode to dance mode.

2. Long-sleeve dresses

Sleeves can be an afterthought when designing a wedding dress, overshadowed by the glamour of a long train or lacy details. But unique sleeves add a whole new dimension to a dress’ personality. Kate Middleton-inspired long, lace sleeves and whimsically sweet flutter sleeves are both convenient for keeping warm without a bolero in an outdoor wedding.

3. Keyhole backs

Keyhole backs can be either fully open exposing a touch of skin, or illusion-filled providing a bit more back coverage. Either way, an open back is flattering and alluring; unlike a V-cut back, keyhole backs are closed at the top and can feature sweet clasps or buttons at the nape of the neck.

4. Nude linings

Illusion linings serve to create contrast allowing intricate lace designs to pop against a darker backdrop. A nude-colored lining can also be used in place of an illusion bodice for a ‘sheer’ look that doesn’t reveal as much skin. Pairing this look with a sleek crepe dress is also a popular option.Anomalie-wedding-dress-trends-nude-bodice

5. Simple structured gowns

Simple, unembellished wedding gowns showcase the dress’ shape and fabric. The simplicity of a plain wedding dress makes it adaptable to a number of styles. In 2017, brides favored shining, silk A-line dresses and matte fit and flare gowns.

6. Wedding dress separates

Two-piece wedding dresses not only showcase a sexy bare midriff; they also allows brides to mix and match bodice and skirt styles for a unique and innovative dress. Layer a loose top over a close-fitted skirt to create a sophisticated silhouette, or pair a cropped bodice with a long train for a trendy and scintillating ensemble.

7. Tiered skirts

A tiered skirt adds volume and texture to a wedding dress for a dramatic ball-gown look or accentuate the flare of a mermaid-style gown. Tiered skirts can take the form of voluminous and romantic tulle, or a more structure organza fabric that swish strikingly when you twirl on the dance floor or for your photographer.

8. Glitter and sequin tulle

Glitter is omnipresent during the holidays, but when it comes to wedding dresses, sparkling fabrics have been in all year. Anomalie brides imagined magical dresses that incorporated sequin under-layers and shimmering tulle.

9. Capes

Like long, flutter sleeves, capes wrap around shoulders and eliminate the need for a jacket or bolero; moreover, a cape is an unmistakably bold statement accessory. Short capes hint at both adventure and high fashion, while long capes can take the place of a train, or lie on top of it to enhance it and add volume.

10. Side illusion cutouts

2017 was a year of tastefully revealed skin in wedding dresses. Illusion mesh side cutouts are as versatile as they are flattering to the waistline: they can just as easily serve as the main detail in an otherwise simple dress, complement a flowing boho gown, or provide a backdrop for intricate lacework.Anomalie-wedding-dress-trends-cutouts
